My top Five Anime Girls, with an Artistic Twist
Anime girls are the life and blood of some of the most popular anime.
Some are cute, some are charming and others are intelligent. But behind that veil of a cute face stands tall a fierce warrior, who isn’t afraid to do what it takes to fulfill her dreams and protect the ones she loves the most.
Having picked some of the best ones from these, we have scrutinized some popular anime through a different scope and have brought to you “Five Anime Girls with an Artistic Twist”. Unlike the portrayal of some anime girls, these five anime girls are strong, independent, and are incredibly important to their respective series.
Want to know which ones I am talking about? Read on!
1. Uraraka from “My Hero Academia”
Also known as Uravity, the bubbly Uraraka is the female fixation for “My Hero Academia’s” fans. She’s that cute, ditzy girl who can easily befriend people and is usually termed as “the most laid back” student of her class. However, to everyone else’s surprise, she can adopt a fiercely determined and focused attitude when drawn into combat.
For this reason, it is quite easy to capture Uraraka’s basic cute-essence in your art, yet truly difficult to make it stand out from the rest. This Uraraka art by @miagenevieveclark is breathtaking, with all the details in her hair and on her cheeks. The unique angle at which she has been drawn and the realistic style of shading makes it difficult for anyone to take their eyes off this art easily! Another striking Uraraka art is this one by @fariri.sensei It is a pencil sketch inked using Copic multiliner. The vertical lines in the hair are flawless. Other places such as the neck, the tie, the pupils, and the eyebrows have been given depth too using the slant style of shading.
Driven by the indomitable will to bring smiles on people’s faces and earn some money to ease her parent’s monetary situation, Uraraka is one character you must catch in My Hero Academia.
2. Nezuko Kamado from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”
Little Nezuko became a demon after a fatal attack on her family ended up killing all but her brother Tanjirou. Since then, Nezuko has been traveling with Tanjirou to find a way to become human again. Mind you, she’s not damsel-in-distress here. Rather, her fierce demon form protects Tanjiro no matter what. A balance between her demonic traits and her human emotions towards people that she cares about, Nezuko Kamado exhibits one of the best female character depths in the anime universe. @will_willds phenomenal art is a visual representation of this. The half-and-a-half Nezuko demon/human art is strikingly contrasting in terms of both the drawing and the coloring. The vibrant backgrounds add to the ambient themes of the emotions on the two sides of the character. Even though there are two sides to the character, this drawing unites them both, making both the demon and the human in Nezuko come out beautifully.
Another beautiful Nezuko art is this one by @vinipedroza_san. This art brings out the classic innocent and pretty Nezuko clad in a pink kimono with the hair decorated with pink ribbons, black hair fading into orange at the bottom, and the green bamboo in her mouth tied around by a red thread. The coloring in this art is bright and the attention to the details is fantastic.
You can catch Nezuko Kamado in the Demon Slayer movie coming soon!
3. Raphtalia from The Rise Of The Shield Hero
Can a raccoon be adorably cute yet fiercely wild too?
Well, in the world of anime it can! Raphtalia is one of the strongest female protagonists of The Rise Of The Shield Hero anime. She is a sexy raccoon-type demi-human now. Just look at this flawless pencil color art by @tsundere_tone with her crouching in the green fauna. The long, flowy hair and her bushy tail are the highlights of the drawing but the composition and use of colors in the background are a class-apart and really make the drawing come alive!
Raphtalia’s bushy tail and fluffy dog-ears are a vital part of her raccoon-like demi-human identity. @gilangaryag makes them come alive in her art! Notice the texture in the drawing, especially the ears and the alluring glow in her eyes! Any minute she’s going to pop out of the frame now!
But there’s more to her than just her looks. Raphtalia’s journey from where she comes is inspiring and is something to look up to. Having watched her near ones die and being sold into slavery, it has taken a lot of courage for this girl to learn weapons, magic and fighting but as of now in the anime, Raphtalia reigns as one of the best characters in the show.
Watch Raphtalia cast her magic in Season 1 of The Rising Of The Shield Hero!
4. Emma from The Promised Neverland
“The Promised Neverland” is a tale of an orphan’s fitting survival, at the heart of which is Emma. Delightfully charming Emma is the apple of everyone’s eyes! In this vivacious art by @cyberpizzademon, her blazing orange hair and bright emerald green eyes are as lively as Emma herself!
Strong-headed and brave Emma is also the shoulder on which all of the orphans of the orphanage Grace Field House lean on. @mandytsune’s traditional sketch is a tribute to the pillar of strength that Emma is to everyone in her orphanage. This plainly simple yet striking pencil art catches all the details in her appearance to the last wisp. You can also see her orphanage identification number on her neck, 63194. The emerald-green in her eyes and the hint of pink on her lips have been colored digitally, adding just the necessary amount of hues required to make the drawing come alive.
After a successful Season 1, “The Promised Neverland” will return for Season 2 coming soon!
5. Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan
Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan has come a long way from being Eren Yeager’s sister. Currently serving as an officer in the Survey Corps(military fighting the Titans), Mikasa is one of the female characters to have excellent character development in the anime. Mikasa was a blossoming, innocent young orphan once, much like the flower tiara on her head in this pencil art by @neo_art24. Much like the expressions in her eyes, she was clueless of the ways of the world and as the vibrant red in her scarf, was full of life.
As the world would have it, military operations and Titan combats hardened her as we see her in the anime today. @anurag_and_pencil has tried a different style of shading to bring out the innocence lost in Mikasa, which we must say, is palpable in her eyes.
Watch Mikasa in action in Attack on Titan which just finished an amazing season.
So there you go! These are 5 badass anime girls in my humble opinion. Did I miss your favorite anime girl? Anyone special you’d like to talk about?
